Prior to October 21st, 2020, an unknown user posted the presumably first bait-and-switch meme within the trend, based on the viral My Little PogChamp dub by and featuring a similarly-styled Dragon Ball fanart. The video (shown below) received over 750,000 views in two years. On June 12th, 2018, YouTuber apandah uploaded a video to YouTube discussing the phenomena of combining streetwear aesthetic with anime and cartoon characters which featured the artwork. At an unidentified point in 2017 or 2018, Zedge user Eking1897 posted a smartphone wallpaper featuring the art which was downloaded over 125,000 times in the following years (shown below, right). On December 9th, 2017, Instagram account hypedstreets posted a photograph of a canvas featuring Goku Drip by no.sply, with the post gaining over 7,600 likes in three years (shown below, left). On June 13th, 2017, Twitter user made the earliest viral repost of one of the front-view artworks, gaining over 370 retweets and 1,400 likes in three years.

Drip Goku is related to a series of fan art depicting anime and cartoon characters in streetwear that dates back to at least 2012. Prior to June 13th, 2017, artist no.sply posted two artworks of Dragon Ball character Goku wearing a black branded Supreme shirt and a black The North Face jacket jacket featuring “By Any Means Necessary” repeating print (shown below, left and right). However, Drip is completely impossible to attain, redditors are the only godlike beings able to give characters the power of Drip while also increasing it's power from the attention their creation gets, such as shares, likes, retweets, comments, upvotes, and it's existence in the internet.ĭrip Goku is prime example of a character attaining the powers of Drip.

Examples of this could be Reality Warping, Drip appears as a Supreme hoodie with an undershirt with the red logo of Supreme in the middle, it's powerful term and it allows the user's who attain it almost Omnipotent like powers. Meaning the internet meme where a character wears a supreme hoodie as well as many different accessories otherwise called and categorised by Gen Z called Drip or also called Hypebeast clothing. The Drip Concept is the concept where a character has attained the power of the Drip.
