During the project the Gantt chart is used to keep track of what should have been done (Based upon the current date against a date in the Gantt chart) and we would keep track of what has been done ourselves.

This software is a one time use, to generate the Gantt chart but the Gantt chart that was created is then used for the entire project.

This software is called ProjectLibre and it provides an interface for laying out all the tasks in a project into a list and then generating a Gantt chart of what needs doing, it also generates PDF versions of the Gantt chart it produces so you can keep a copy of it. The software you see in the above image is the second piece of software I used, it was used in the first project whereas the other two methods were only used in the second project. I kept the SMART targets part of ProPortal updated by changing the status of the targets when it had changed, this allowed me to come back at any point and see an overview of which targets I had remaining, which I had completed and which I might have missed. I was constantly using this tool while doing units and my course, to check feedback on any assignments I had submitted, check how many units I had completed and to submit my own feedback on pieces of work I had completed. This software also allows me to view all my current grades, tasks completed, units completed and progress through the course as a whole so that I know where I’m up to. The second tool that was used during my course was ProPortal, this software was used to keep track of certain units and my current progress through them, each with custom notes so I can create one for each assignment that I have to do. In contrast to this the long term todo list was created once with everything that needed doing on it and then slowly edited over time with things being added and crossed off, this copy was always updated so if I did make a mistake on the short term list I could just get information off it instead.
I would keep the todo list updated by constantly changing it, the short term todo list (Mainly for homework) was binned and re-wrote every week to make sure it had all the latest information on it and nothing that was no longer reverent (Was completed), during the week I would cross things off this short term list so I knew it was done. These were used to keep track of what needed doing in order to finish the course (Or year of the course) or what needed doing over a short period of time to keep up to date with everyone else and with the work that the teacher was giving out.Īnother way I used my todo list was to store special instructions for work, you can see this below “U39”, some work needed extra things doing after it had been completed so I would add this to both my short term and long term todo list so I knew that it needed doing.
Throughout the second project (My course) I would constantly be making pieces of paper like the one you see above, the one you see above was the course as a whole so it has everything that needed doing for every unit but I had separate ones for short term needs such as homework. The first of the tools, pen and paper, were used for keeping track of all the tasks that were currently being done. In this page I will also compare the two and say which of the two I would use if I was to start a new, large project now. I used many tools throughout the projects but in this I will only cover the tools which were used for planning the projects, in the first project I used software called ProjectLibre to plan the entire project where as in my course I used a pen and paper todo list which I would re-write every week to have the work that needed doing over the weekend as well as what was completed.
